The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest features 24 diverse rye beers and 1 cider. As always festival organizer Kerry Finsand tries to curate a beer selection that highlights the impact of rye in a beer. Festival attendees will have the opportunity to try rye beers with a subtle hint of rye while others will feature more aggressive spicy characteristics.
Portland Beer Week the 11-day (June 8th-18th) event that I have been involved in for seven years and founded by Ezra Johnson-Greenough of the New School Beer Blog officially starts today. My first year of Portland Beer Week I put together a Sushi and Beer Pairing event at Roscoes with my friend Ritch Marvin. The next year I started the rye beer fest. And over the years I have been involved in a number of other events. There are over 100 events going on this year and really something for everyone. Here are 8 must attend events, yes I am involved in a few of these, but I will not lead you astray.
The 6th Annual Rye Beer Fest, part of Portland Beer Week returns with new location, date, and charity to benefit, New Avenues For Youth. This year’s fest will take place on Saturday, June 17th at Happy Valley Station Food Cart Pod (13551 SE 145th Ave, Happy Valley, OR 97015). Event hours are 11 am to 9 pm featuring over 20 rye beers and 18+ food carts.
