West Coast Grocery Adds New Brewpub To SE Portland
When you think of West Coast Grocery the first thing that comes to mind is not likely beer. However, for West Coast Grocery Company that is the main course. Well, I guess we can not forget about the food ranging from wings to burgers (I really enjoyed their sliders that I hope they keep on their menu).
This new brewpub founded by Charlie Hyde IV has origins that date back to 1891 when his relative's started a distributing company called West Coast Distributing Co. that was a large player in the food distribution space until 1985 when it was acquired by Supervalu Stores.
Fast forward today and the next generation of this business combines beer, food and family history in their SE Portland Location as defined by the company below:
The heart of any neighborhood has always been
the corner grocery. It’s a place where people
lingered while they shopped, chatting with their
friends and catching up on the latest gossip. In a
less hurried time, the corner grocery was our social
network. We knew the names of the people behind
the counter and they knew ours. They also knew
our tastes and carried exactly what we wanted. Our family has been in the wholesale grocery
business in the Northwest since 1891. For five
generations they have supplied grocery stores with
foods, herbs, spices, and staples—the things thatmake life both possible and pleasurable. That’s why our brewery is calledWest Coast Grocery Co. Not just because we're
the fifth generation to do business under that
name, but because we believe in the corner
brewery—the place where the neighborhood goes.
The place where really good food and beer are served the way locals like it. We have 12 beers on tap and a kitchen serving
everything from sandwiches to meals. So munch
on some celery, drink a pint, and tell us what’s up.
Come to check out their grand opening this Friday, July 27th, 2018. Their taproom is open from 11:30 am to 11:00 pm with giveaways and breweries tours starting at 5:00 pm.
West Coast Grocery Company is located in the Buckman neighborhood at SE 14th and Stark (1403 SE Stark, Portland, Oregon).
